“Decommodify Art” Art Dispersal
Participate in an art dispersal of 49 square paintings at Lightforms Art Center (743 Columbia Street, Hudson, NY) on Saturday, April 22nd and Sunday, April 23rd from 11:30 am – 5:00 pm! Dispersal is an event where original works of art are displayed and people are invited to become their stewards. Individuals can take a piece home, keep it for as long as they would like, make a donation in exchange for a selected piece, or return the piece to the artist if they no longer want to keep it.
Many of the art dispersal paintings were inspired by the new music of Love Bravely, a cross-genre music project and creative community founded by rapper / singer-songwriter, Matre, in collaboration with a wide network of musicians, artists and creatives. For more information on Love Bravely, visit their website.
The 49 paintings are unframed, on paper, and easy to ship. All paintings are dispersed on a donation-based sliding scale of $0-300 with contributions supporting Lightforms and Free Columbia. Laura Summer, the featured art dispersal artist, will be hanging her work on Friday, April 21st between 3:00 – 7:00 pm; individuals are welcomed to come and take a look during this time. The paintings can also be viewed online here.
Paintings are available in person and online. If you are interested in stewarding one of the 49 pieces of art, please contact Laura Summer by email or by calling 518-653-2350.
